Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Take the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad along on your travels with a passport cover inspired by the North Shore Line. Its electric routes connected Chicago, Milwaukee, and communities such as Waukegan, Evanston, and Skokie, linking regional journeys with local transit. The Electroliners, introduced in 1941, remain among the railroad’s best-known innovations. A distinctive travel accessory for railway enthusiasts, history collectors, and anyone who enjoys the story of routes that brought cities and communities closer.
The Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad, known as the North Shore Line, grew from the Bluff City Electric Street Railway, which began operating in Waukegan in May 1895. The Chicago and Milwaukee Electric Railroad acquired it in May 1898, and through service reached Evanston in 1899. The line extended north to Milwaukee by 1908. After the North Shore Line took over operations in 1916, it gained direct access to Chicago’s elevated railway and the Loop in 1919. Its Skokie Valley route opened in 1926, creating a faster Chicago–Milwaukee path and local service to Mundelein. The railroad developed streamlined Electroliner trains, introduced in 1941, and operated passenger, freight, streetcar, bus and motor-coach services. A new corporation assumed the property in 1946 after reorganization. Passenger service on the Shore Line ended in 1955; all rail service ended in January 1963. The Electroliners were sold to a Philadelphia-area transit company and later ran under the name Liberty Liners. Since 1964, Chicago Transit Authority rapid transit has used part of the former route between Chicago and Skokie.
