Product Details & Size Guide

GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Celebrate the Corn Belt Route and its place in Midwestern railroading with this Chicago, St. Paul and Kansas City Railway beanie. The company began in 1885 as a regional line from St. Paul, then expanded to connect communities across several states. Oelwein, Iowa, became its headquarters and principal shop site, while diesel power eventually reached the entire system by 1950. This railway-themed accessory is a fitting pick for train fans, history enthusiasts, and collectors drawn to the story of a distinctive carrier.

Founded by Alpheus Beede Stickney in 1885 as the Minnesota and Northwestern Railroad, the line began as a regional route between St. Paul and the Iowa state line. Its predecessor history included a 1835 charter for a proposed railroad west from Chicago; construction never began under that charter, and the building rights passed to the Minnesota and Northwestern in 1854. Construction south from St. Paul toward Dubuque began in 1884. The Chicago, St. Paul and Kansas City Railroad acquired the Minnesota and Northwestern in 1887 and developed routes to Omaha, St. Joseph, and Chicago. Reorganized as the Chicago Great Western in 1892, it grew into a multi-state carrier linking Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha, and Kansas City. Oelwein, Iowa, became its headquarters and principal shop site, with construction completed there in 1899. Known as the Corn Belt Route, the company adopted diesel power across its system by 1950 and ended passenger operations on September 30, 1965. After years of merger discussions, it joined the Chicago and North Western Railway on July 1, 1968. The successor abandoned most former Chicago Great Western trackage.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.

Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
