Product Details & Size Guide

GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Carry a piece of Ohio and Michigan railroad history wherever your travels lead. The Cincinnati Northern Railroad grew from a network of local lines, with its name adopted in 1894 after decades of building and reorganization. Its route once linked communities from Franklin, Ohio, toward Jackson, Michigan, and surviving fragments still recall that regional story. This luggage tag brings a distinctive railway heritage touch to your travel essentials and suits collectors who appreciate the changing lines that shaped the Midwest.

The Cincinnati Northern Railroad developed from several rail lines planned or built across western Ohio and southern Michigan. Early efforts to build north from Cincinnati were interrupted by the Panic of 1857. The Celina, Van Wert and State Line Extension opened in stages from 1879 to 1880, initially using narrow gauge track, while other local companies built segments near Paulding and Van Wert. In 1881, the Cincinnati, Van Wert and Michigan Railroad took over and extended parts of this network. It joined with the Jackson and Ohio Railroad in 1886 to form the Cincinnati, Jackson and Mackinaw Railroad, which completed a line from Addison, Michigan, to Carlisle, Ohio, in 1887. The company extended access toward Cincinnati and reorganized as the Cincinnati and Michigan Railroad in 1892, then as the Cincinnati, Jackson and Michigan Railway. The Cincinnati Northern Railroad name was adopted in December 1894. The Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway acquired it in 1901; the railroad was formally merged into that company effective June 30, 1938. That successor was later acquired by the New York Central Railroad. Most of the roughly 186-mile route from Franklin, Ohio, to Jackson, Michigan, has since been abandoned; a few sections remain in use.
