GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Add a conversation piece to your next gathering with this Paradise Island Airlines can cooler. The carrier’s 1990s flights linked Florida communities with Paradise Island, making vacation travel part of its story. Its Dash 7 aircraft were suited to the island airport’s short runway, while its corporate history touched Resorts International, Chalk’s Ocean Airways, and later code-sharing with Carnival Air Lines. Made for fans of aviation history and Bahamas travel, it celebrates an airline that connected resort life with regional flying.
Paradise Island Airlines connected Florida with Paradise Island in the Bahamas during the 1990s. Resorts International, which owned hotels and other resort amenities on Paradise Island as well as Chalk's Ocean Airways, launched the airline in March 1989 to serve growing vacation traffic from Florida. Chalk's seaplanes were limited to daylight operations because of the challenges of landing on water at night. Paradise Island Airlines primarily used the de Havilland Canada DHC-7 Dash 7, a short takeoff and landing turboprop suited to the island airport's relatively short 3,000-foot runway. Its fleet also included de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft. Resorts International entered severe financial distress and sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December 1989. Following financial difficulties and ownership changes involving both airlines, Paradise Island Airlines ceased operations in May 1999. Its destinations included Fort Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach and Orlando in Florida, with Paradise Island as its primary destination. A December 1996 Carnival Air Lines route map also showed code-sharing service operated by Paradise Island Airlines aircraft to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Key West, Paradise Island and West Palm Beach.
