Product Details & Size Guide

GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Celebrate a memorable name in Minnesota retail with this Dayton's metal bottle opener. The store opened in downtown Minneapolis in 1902 and grew from a local department store into an influential regional business. Its history reaches from the rise of suburban shopping at Southdale Center to the launch of Target in 1962 and later changes in store ownership and names. A conversation-starting keepsake for Dayton's collectors, former shoppers, and anyone who values the history of Twin Cities commerce.

Dayton's began in Minneapolis in 1902, when George Draper Dayton established a department store in a building at Nicollet Avenue and Seventh Street. Its roots reached back to Goodfellow & Company, founded in 1878. The business became Dayton's Wet Goods Company in 1903 and The Dayton Company in 1911. It expanded from downtown Minneapolis into Minnesota and the Upper Midwest, acquiring Rochester's Knowlton Company in 1952 and developing shopping centers including Southdale Center in Edina, which opened in 1956 as the first fully enclosed, climate-controlled mall in the United States. Dayton's launched the Target discount-store chain in 1962. In 1969, it merged with Detroit-based Hudson's to form Dayton-Hudson Corporation, which acquired Chicago-based Marshall Field's in 1990. The corporation took the Target Corporation name in 2000, and Dayton's stores were rebranded as Marshall Field's in 2001. May Department Stores bought the Marshall Field's group in 2004 and merged with Federated Department Stores in 2005; the stores later became Macy's. The downtown Minneapolis flagship closed in 2017, after more than a century of retail at the site.

This slim, all-metal bottle opener feels like the trusted tool you reach for when friends gather and stories start. Forged from heavy-duty stainless steel, it slides into a pocket or bartending apron without bulk, then delivers confident leverage when a cold drink needs freeing. The flat surface accepts crisp laser engraving, so names, dates, or logos stay sharp through years of use. Use it behind the home bar, at backyard tailgates, or hand one to each member of your wedding party — it’s built to take commercial-level wear while still looking clean and refined. Simple, sturdy, and ready for the next toast.
