Product Details & Size Guide
Dean Witter Reynolds grew from two early securities firms into a coast-to-coast operation, reaching offices in all 50 states by 1979. Its story continued through Sears ownership, the launch of Discover Card, and a major merger with Morgan Stanley. This cuffed beanie brings a compact expression of that distinctive corporate history to everyday wear, appealing to collectors and anyone drawn to the changing names and identities of American financial services.
Dean Witter Reynolds brought together two American securities firms: Dean Witter & Co., founded in San Francisco in 1924, and Reynolds Securities, founded in New York City in 1931. Their 1978 merger formed Dean Witter Reynolds Organization Inc., then described as the largest securities-industry merger in U.S. history. The firm expanded across the country and, in 1979, became the first securities firm with offices in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Sears acquired it in 1981. Under Sears, the business launched Discover Card in 1986. Sears spun off the company in 1993, when it took the name Dean Witter, Discover & Co.; its headquarters were in New York City's World Trade Center. In 1997, it merged with Morgan Stanley to form Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Discover Co. The combined company dropped “Discover Co.” from its name in 1998 and “Dean Witter” in 2001. In 2009, Dean Witter's retail operations were transferred to Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, a joint venture with Citigroup. Its history spans retail brokerage, investment banking, asset management, and consumer credit.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.
Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
