Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Add a piece of Michigan rail heritage to your everyday workspace with this Detroit, Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railway mouse pad. The railway linked Detroit and Grand Haven across an 189-mile route, connecting communities along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. Its 1878 reorganization and 1928 consolidation into Grand Trunk Western capture the changing ownership behind a familiar regional line. Made for railway enthusiasts, history-minded desk setups and collectors who enjoy a practical reminder of the Great Lakes rail story.
The Detroit, Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railway was a Michigan railroad formed in 1878 after the Detroit and Milwaukee Railroad entered receivership in 1875. The earlier Detroit and Milwaukee was a successor to the Detroit and Pontiac Railroad, among the first railroads organized in Michigan. The Great Western Railway of Canada had gained financial control of the Detroit and Milwaukee in 1860 after it defaulted on debt payments. In 1878, Great Western purchased the railroad outright and refinanced its debts; the reorganized company took the name Detroit, Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railway. Its 189-mile line ran from Detroit to Grand Haven on Lake Michigan’s eastern shore, with a Grand Rapids station at Plainfield and East Leonard. The Grand Trunk Railway of Canada acquired Great Western in 1882, bringing the railway under its ownership, though formal consolidation waited until 1928. That year, the company became part of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, marking its transition from a separately named regional railway into a larger railroad system.
