GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Carry a piece of American brokerage history wherever the route leads. This E. F. Hutton luggage tag draws on a company founded in San Francisco in 1904, whose story extended from California roots to a nationwide retail brokerage network, including Palm Beach, Saratoga Springs, and Maui. A smart travel accessory for finance enthusiasts, corporate-history collectors, and anyone who appreciates a recognizable name from the world of investing.
E. F. Hutton & Co. was founded in San Francisco in 1904 by Edward Francis Hutton and his brother, Franklyn Laws Hutton. An early California brokerage, it lost its offices in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Wall Street trader Gerald M. Loeb joined in 1924 and ultimately became chairman. The firm built a nationwide retail brokerage network for debt and equity securities, with seasonal offices in Palm Beach, Florida, and Saratoga Springs, New York; its first one-man Maui office opened in December 1969. Robert M. Fomon became chief executive officer in 1970. After a difficult 1980s, E. F. Hutton agreed to merge with Shearson Lehman/American Express in December 1987; the transaction took effect in 1988 as Shearson Lehman Hutton. American Express stopped using the Hutton name in 1990, renaming the business Shearson Lehman Brothers. In 1993, the Shearson and Hutton business was sold to Primerica and combined with Smith Barney. Later mergers placed remnants of the original firm within Citigroup and then Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. The EF Hutton name was revived again in 2021 for EF Hutton Group.
