Product Details & Size Guide

GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

A small everyday keepsake with a story rooted in Bay Area retail. Emporium Capwell grew from the 1927 merger of Oakland's Capwell's and San Francisco's The Emporium, two names that continued separately for decades. The Emporium's Market Street flagship first opened in 1897, survived the 1906 earthquake before fire destroyed it, and was rebuilt in 1908. This bottle opener brings that memorable local history to gatherings, home bars, and gifts for collectors who remember the region's department stores.

Emporium Capwell Co. was a San Francisco Bay Area department store company formed in 1927 by the merger of two local retailers. Harris Cebert Capwell founded his Oakland business in 1889 as The Lace House, changing its name to Capwell's in 1891. Adolph Feist founded The Emporium in San Francisco in 1896 as a cooperative of individually owned shops. The merged company retained the separate Capwell's and Emporium identities until 1980, when the stores combined under the Emporium-Capwell name; that name was shortened to Emporium in 1990. Broadway-Hale Stores, later known as Carter Hawley Hale Stores, acquired the company in 1970. Emporium assumed operation of Sacramento-based Weinstock's in 1991. In 1995, the parent company was acquired by Federated Department Stores, which combined the chain with other regional stores. Retained locations were renamed Macy's in 1996. The Emporium flagship at 835 Market Street in San Francisco opened in 1897 in a new building, survived the 1906 earthquake but was destroyed by the ensuing fire, and was rebuilt in 1908. The store closed in 1996; its former site later became part of San Francisco Centre, where the restored glass dome remains a notable feature.

This slim, all-metal bottle opener feels like the trusted tool you reach for when friends gather and stories start. Forged from heavy-duty stainless steel, it slides into a pocket or bartending apron without bulk, then delivers confident leverage when a cold drink needs freeing. The flat surface accepts crisp laser engraving, so names, dates, or logos stay sharp through years of use. Use it behind the home bar, at backyard tailgates, or hand one to each member of your wedding party — it’s built to take commercial-level wear while still looking clean and refined. Simple, sturdy, and ready for the next toast.
