GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Bring Texas railroad history into everyday wear with this International–Great Northern Railroad polo. Formed in 1873 through the merger of two Texas railroads, the line grew from Hearne toward Austin, San Antonio, and Laredo, linking communities across the state. Its changing corporate story, from independent operations to its 1956 merger into Missouri Pacific, gives this piece meaning for rail fans and Texas history enthusiasts. Wear it for a museum visit, a casual outing, or a conversation about the routes that shaped the region.

The International–Great Northern Railroad was a Texas railroad formed on September 30, 1873, by the merger of the International Railroad and the Houston and Great Northern Railroad. Incorporated as the International & Great Northern Railroad Company, it initially operated 177 miles of track from Hearne to Longview. Expansion southwest reached Rockdale in 1874, Austin on December 28, 1876, San Antonio in 1880, and Laredo on December 1, 1881. At its peak, the system owned 1,106 miles of track. Industrialist Jay Gould gained control in December 1880, and the line was operated with the Missouri Pacific and Texas and Pacific as one system while retaining separate corporate identities. Financial troubles brought receiverships and reorganizations. A reorganized railway company took over after a foreclosure sale on August 31, 1911; a later sale followed in July 1922. The railroad was incorporated by Texas on August 17, 1922, and assumed operation on December 31. Gulf Coast Lines subsidiary New Orleans, Texas and Mexico Railway purchased it in 1924, and Missouri Pacific acquired Gulf Coast Lines in 1925. On March 1, 1956, the subsidiaries were merged into Missouri Pacific, ending the railroad's separate corporate existence. Missouri Pacific joined Union Pacific in 1997.
