Top off cool-weather days with a Kerr Drug beanie inspired by a familiar name in North Carolina pharmacy history. From its 1951 Chapel Hill opening to its longtime Raleigh presence, Kerr Drug represented neighborhood service and local health care for decades. This cuffed beanie gives collectors and regional-history fans a simple wearable connection to that story. A thoughtful pick for pharmacy professionals, former employees, and anyone who remembers the chain.

Kerr Drug was an American drugstore chain based in Raleigh, North Carolina, with stores throughout the state. Banks Kerr founded the company in 1951 after graduating as valedictorian from the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy. Its first store opened at University Mall in Chapel Hill. In January 1995, Thrift Drug, then owned by JCPenney, acquired Kerr's 97-store chain. During JCPenney's attempted acquisition of Eckerd Drug, federal regulators required 161 stores in North Carolina and South Carolina to be divested. Those stores were acquired by New Kerr Drug, an entity owned by Thrift's former president. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy dedicated Banks D. Kerr Hall in 2002. In 2009, Kerr sold 11 Charleston-area stores to CVS and refocused on North Carolina. That year it introduced Naturally Kerr formats in Raleigh and Asheville. Walgreens purchased Kerr's remaining 76 stores and distribution center in 2013, later converting remaining locations to its own name.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.

Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
