Product Details & Size Guide
Legend Airlines made a bold attempt to bring long-distance flights to Dallas Love Field, launching service in 2000 after years of legal and regulatory challenges. Its brief run connected Dallas with cities including Washington, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York, leaving a distinct mark on local aviation history. This cuffed beanie offers a wearable nod to that short-lived carrier and its ambitious business-class service. It suits airline collectors, Dallas aviation fans, and anyone who appreciates stories of daring travel ventures.
Legend Airlines was a Dallas-based carrier created to offer long-distance service from Dallas Love Field under the Wright Amendment’s 56-seat limit. Founded in 1996 with aviation company Dalfort Aviation, it planned to use refurbished jetliners configured with 56 business-class seats. After years of legislative lobbying, court disputes and delays in receiving federal operating approval, Legend began flying on April 5, 2000, with service to Washington Dulles. Las Vegas and Los Angeles followed, then New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The airline aimed at business travelers with a spacious cabin and premium onboard service. Its flights brought renewed attention to Love Field’s restrictions and were followed by competing service from other carriers. Legend lost $25 million in its first six months amid high start-up and fuel costs and intense competition. It suspended flights on December 3, 2000, after failing to obtain more financing, then entered bankruptcy and liquidation. In 2001, it surrendered its operating certificate and its physical assets were auctioned. Its separately owned Love Field terminal later became part of a dispute over airport gates after the 2006 Wright Amendment agreement; litigation over its destruction continued until a 2016 compensation ruling. The Wright Amendment was fully repealed in 2014.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.
Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
