GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Bring a piece of Tucson retail history into your everyday wardrobe with this Levy's Department Store Cotton Polo Shirt. Founded by brothers Jacob and Ben Levy in 1950, Levy's grew from a downtown Tucson store into a familiar name across Southern Arizona. Its story spans early department stores in mining communities, a move into El Con Mall, and the expansion to Foothills Mall. This shirt honors the family-founded business and the local shopping memories it left behind.
Levy's, also known as Levy Brothers, was a department store based in Tucson, Arizona. Brothers Jacob and Ben Levy founded it in 1950 after acquiring the former Myers & Bloom department store in downtown Tucson. The brothers had operated department stores in Southern Arizona mining towns, including Douglas and Clifton, where their stores served active communities and carried a full line of clothing. A second Tucson location opened at El Con Mall in 1960. It moved to another building in the mall in 1969; the former building became Steinfeld's. Levy's added a store at Foothills Mall in 1983. Federated Department Stores owned the business and in 1985 absorbed it into its Sanger-Harris subsidiary. Sanger-Harris became Foley's in 1987, and Foley's was sold to May Company in 1988. The El Con location became Robinsons-May on February 2, 1997, then converted to Macy's in 2006. It closed in 2008 and was demolished for a Walmart Supercenter. The Foothills Mall store also became Sanger-Harris and then Foley's, closing in 1994. Its former space was later divided among Ross Dress for Less, Nike Factory Store, and vacant space last occupied by Linens 'N Things.
