Product Details & Size Guide

GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Loehmann's story started in a former automobile showroom in Brooklyn, where Frieda and Charles Loehmann turned designer overstocks into bargain discoveries beginning in 1921. This cuffed beanie celebrates the name's place in American retail memory, from its family-run beginnings to a chain that reached about 100 stores at its 1999 peak. For longtime shoppers and collectors, it evokes the anticipation of a visit and the legendary hunt through The Back Room.

Loehmann's began in 1921, when former department store buyer Frieda Loehmann and her son Charles opened a store in a former automobile showroom at Bedford Avenue and Sterling Place in Brooklyn, New York City. They bought seasonal overstocks from New York designers and sold them at bargain prices. Charles opened a second store on Fordham Road in the Bronx in 1930. After Frieda's death in 1962, the original store closed, and the Charles C. Loehmann company went public and expanded. Associated Dry Goods acquired the chain in 1983; after its 1986 merger with The May Department Stores Company, May sold Loehmann's in 1988 to an investor group led by Sefinco Ltd. and the Sprout Group. The company went public again in 1996 and had about 100 stores in 17 states at its 1999 peak. After several ownership changes and Chapter 11 filings, Loehmann's began closing its stores in January 2014 and shut its last location on February 26, moving to online-only retailing. It ceased operations in 2018. Century 21 purchased the brand in 2020; a 2025 report said it planned pop-up locations, with a return expected in 2026.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.

Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
