Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Start the day with a nod to Lone Star Steakhouse and its memorable place in American restaurant history. A prototype opened in Winston-Salem in 1989, followed by rapid growth during the 1990s and a reported peak of 267 restaurants in 1998. Later ownership transitions, closures, and bankruptcy proceedings brought a dramatic change in direction, while a Guam franchise was reported to remain in operation in 2025. This mug is a keepsake for former diners and collectors of familiar dining brands.
Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon began with a prototype restaurant opened by Creative Culinary Concepts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1989. Jamie B. Coulter, a former major Pizza Hut franchisee, signed an agreement with the company in 1991 to open four restaurants. He incorporated Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon in January 1992 and became its president, CEO, and chairman. With eight restaurants, the chain went public in March 1992, raising $91 million to fund expansion. It grew to 182 restaurants by the end of 1995 and reached a reported peak of 267 in 1998. After years of declining sales, rising costs, and closures, the chain was acquired in 2006 by Dallas-based private equity firm Lone Star Funds. Lone Star Steakhouse and Texas Land & Cattle were acquired by the newly formed Day Star Restaurant Group in December 2015. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February 2017; the case converted to Chapter 7 that September. The final four continental U.S. locations closed in 2018 and 2019. As of December 2025, one independently owned and operated franchise remained in Tamuning, Guam.
