Product Details & Size Guide
Take a piece of early American automotive history into the day with a Lyons-Knight tumbler. Built in Indianapolis from 1913 through 1915, the marque paired Knight sleeve-valve engines with cars such as the four-cylinder K-4 and six-cylinder K-6. Its brief run and engineering roots make a distinctive subject for automobile enthusiasts and collectors. This tumbler suits commutes, work breaks, and road-trip planning, or a practical gift for someone who enjoys uncommon names from motoring history.
Lyons-Knight was an American automobile built in Indianapolis, Indiana, from 1913 through 1915. In 1913, brothers James W., William P., and George W. Lyons purchased Atlas Engine Works and reorganized it as the Lyons-Atlas Company. The former Atlas Company had made two-stroke gasoline and diesel engines and developed gasoline engines using the Knight sleeve-valve design. Lyons-Knight cars used Knight sleeve-valve engines and worm-drive rear axles designed by Harry A. Knox, who had previously worked at the Atlas-Knight Automobile Company in Springfield, Massachusetts. The 1913 Model K-4 had a 50-horsepower four-cylinder engine, a 130-inch wheelbase, and touring, sedan, or berline body choices for five or seven passengers. For 1914, the Model K-6 added a six-cylinder option on the same wheelbase, offered as a five- or seven-passenger touring sedan. In 1915, the K-4 was the sole model, with limousine and roadster bodies added. Automobile production ended that year, soon after Knox resigned. Lyons-Atlas continued making engines and supplied Standard marine engines for Britain during World War I.
