Mall Airways was an American regional airline based in Albany, New York, that operated from 1973 to 1989. Its network extended across the northeastern United States and eastern Canada, serving destinations that included Albany, New York City, Buffalo, Hartford, Newark, Providence, Montreal, and Toronto. The carrier flew Beechcraft 1900s, Beech 99 Airliners, Piper Navajo Chieftains, and occasionally a Beech King Air 90 as a backup aircraft. In February 1979, a flight traveling from Elmira to Albany lost power; its pilots coordinated with air traffic controllers and other Mall Airways pilots and landed safely. In 1988, the Federal Aviation Administration suspended the airline’s ground operations after finding that operations records had not been maintained. National Transportation Safety Board records suggested the matter involved fraudulent pilot training records. Business Express Airlines acquired Mall Airways in September 1989 and retained two Beechcraft 1900C aircraft, registered N15394 and N15503. The acquisition marked the end of Mall Airways as an independent regional carrier.
