In February 1979, a flight traveling from Elmira to Albany lost power; its pilots coordinated with air traffic controllers and other Mall Airways pilots and landed safely. In 1988, the Federal Aviation Administration suspended the airline’s ground operations after finding that operations records had not been maintained. National Transportation Safety Board records suggested the matter involved fraudulent pilot training records. Business Express Airlines acquired Mall Airways in September 1989 and retained two Beechcraft 1900C aircraft, registered N15394 and N15503. The acquisition marked the end of Mall Airways as an independent regional carrier.
