In 2019, its partners sold the business to Crave Brands LLC. Meatheads and its parent filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on April 9, 2021. In September 2023, Epic Burger acquired the six remaining Meatheads locations and began converting them, starting with the Northbrook restaurant. By July 2024, only two locations remained, and those were later replaced.
