GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Set out with a reminder of Medavia’s Maltese aviation heritage. Founded in 1978 and operating from Safi since September 1979, the company supported regional travel through its own flight operations, charters and other aviation services. Its history includes regular connections to Libya and flights that helped evacuate people during conflict, as well as services to Italy, Croatia and Greece. For airline-history collectors and travelers alike, this passport cover recalls a distinctive company later rebranded as Mel Air.
Mediterranean Aviation Company Limited, known as Medavia, is a Maltese-registered aviation services company founded in 1978 and operating since September 1979. Its head office and operational base are at Safi Aviation Park on Carmelo Caruana Road in Safi, Malta. The company has provided flight operations and charters with its own fleet, aircraft maintenance, business charter brokerage and other aviation services. Its listed services include maintenance and repair, aircraft operations, ground handling, continuing airworthiness management and design engineering. During the weeks after fighting began in Libya, Medavia flights served as evacuation channels for Maltese nationals and injured people. The company was described as the only airline flying directly from Libya to Europe after proposed Libya–Malta services by Ghadames Air Transport did not proceed. In 2014, unrest associated with the Battle of Tripoli Airport damaged a Medavia aircraft. In February 2021, Medavia was rebranded as Mel Air. The source also records former regular services to Italy, Croatia and Greece, alongside regular flights to Libya, and notes charter, lease and ACMI operations.
