Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Bring a piece of regional airline history into your daily travels with this Mesaba Airlines travel mug. The company began in 1944 with a Piper Cub route serving paper mill employees between Grand Rapids and Minneapolis, then expanded through Minnesota roots into turboprop and regional-jet service. Its changing partnerships, from Northwest Airlink and Jetlink to Delta Connection and US Airways Express, trace a memorable chapter in U.S. aviation. A fitting pick for commutes, road trips, or collectors drawn to regional airline stories.
Mesaba Aviation was founded in 1944 by Gordy Newstrom in Coleraine, Minnesota, and began with a Piper Cub carrying paper mill employees between Grand Rapids and Minneapolis. Newstrom moved the company to Grand Rapids in 1950. The Halverson family bought it in 1973 and introduced scheduled service; the Swenson family acquired it in 1977 and took it public in 1982. In 1984, Mesaba began flying as Northwest Airlink, later adding service from Detroit and, in 1997, regional jets under the Northwest Jetlink name. It expanded its fleet with Saab 340 turboprops and Avro RJ85 jets, then faced financial pressure after Northwest Airlines entered bankruptcy in 2005. Mesaba filed for Chapter 11 that October and emerged in April 2007 as a Northwest subsidiary. After Northwest merged with Delta Air Lines, Mesaba flew as Delta Connection and, from 2011, as US Airways Express. Delta sold it to Pinnacle Airlines Corporation in 2010. Mesaba’s aircraft and personnel transferred to Pinnacle on January 4, 2012, forming part of the transition to Endeavor Air; its operating certificate was surrendered on July 31.
