MidAtlantic Airways was a regional airline based at Pittsburgh International Airport in Findlay Township, Pennsylvania, and a subsidiary of US Airways. Its roots were in Potomac Air, a short-lived carrier created in late 2000 that began flying 37-seat de Havilland Canada Dash 8-200 aircraft in early 2001 from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport near Washington, D.C. After the airport closed following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Potomac ceased operations. US Airways reformed its remnants as MidAtlantic in spring 2002. Some CRJ flying took place as early as 2002, before those aircraft went to PSA Airlines, another US Airways Group subsidiary.
