Introduce a new arrival to an enduring interest in airline history with this Midway Airlines infant bodysuit. The company’s story began with Chicago flights in 1993, grew around its Raleigh-Durham hub, and unfolded through changing fleets, service interruptions, and a final closure in 2003. For aviation-minded families and airline collectors, it is a warm way to share a favorite chapter of U.S. travel history. A charming choice for a family keepsake or a present for parents who love airline stories.
Midway Airlines operated in the United States from November 1993 to October 30, 2003. Formed from Jet Express, a commuter carrier that provided code-sharing feeder services for Trans World Airlines and USAir, it began with flights between Chicago Midway and New York LaGuardia using two Fokker 100s. The airline built a small Chicago hub before moving to North Carolina in early 1995, establishing a hub at Raleigh-Durham International Airport and eventually moving its headquarters to Morrisville. At its peak, it offered almost 200 daily flights from Raleigh-Durham to 33 destinations. Its fleet included Fokker 100s, Airbus A320s, Bombardier CRJ-200s, and Boeing 737-700s. After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August 2001, it stopped flying in September, resumed service in December, and discontinued its 737 operation in July 2002. In February 2003, it returned as a US Airways Express operator with regional jets from Raleigh-Durham and Washington Reagan National. Unable to secure enough capital, it ceased operations in October 2003 and entered Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
