Raise a glass to the Nickel Plate Road, the railroad that set out to connect Buffalo and Chicago and began running its complete system in 1882. This pint glass brings that recognizable name into everyday gatherings, whether you are sharing railroad stories or tracing the route’s growth toward St. Louis. Its design celebrates a company whose changing ownership and mergers reflect a larger chapter in American rail history. A thoughtful choice for collectors and rail enthusiasts.

The New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad, commonly known as the Nickel Plate Road, operated from 1881 to 1964 across parts of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. Organized on February 3, 1881, it was built to connect Buffalo and Chicago in competition with the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway. Its first trains ran over the full system on October 16, 1882. Ownership changed over time: the Seney Syndicate sold the railroad to William H. Vanderbilt in 1882, and the Van Sweringen brothers acquired control in 1916. Under president John J. Bernet, the railroad expanded through purchases of the Lake Erie and Western Railroad in 1922 and the Toledo, St. Louis and Western Railroad, also called the Clover Leaf Route, later that year. The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway gained control in 1937 and ended its control in 1947. The Nickel Plate leased the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway in 1949. On October 16, 1964, it merged with Norfolk and Western Railway and other carriers. Norfolk and Western later combined with Southern Railway in 1982 to form Norfolk Southern.

A sturdy 16oz pint glass that brings a little roadhouse spirit to everyday pours. The clear tempered glass showcases whatever you fill it with — amber beer, cold brew, or fresh juice — while a bold vintage-inspired script wraps the side for a subtle, nostalgic touch. It feels solid in the hand, resists everyday wear, and pairs easily with bar carts, kitchen counters, or a laid-back backyard table. Wash gently by hand to keep the lettering sharp and the glass crystal-clear. Built from tempered materials and assembled in the USA, this glass fits into evenings spent swapping stories, weekend morning routines, or those slow, quiet moments when a simple drink matters.
