Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Bring an aviation-history conversation to your desk with this Northeastern International Airways business card holder. The Fort Lauderdale carrier began flights in 1982 and expanded rapidly, connecting northeastern and Florida cities while adding destinations such as New Orleans and Los Angeles. Its fleet included DC-8s, Boeing 727s and Airbus A300s before financial pressures brought an abrupt end to the airline. A considered desk accessory for airline memorabilia collectors, aviation readers and fans of the changing American route network.
Founded by Stephen Quinto, Northeastern International Airways began operations on February 11, 1982, with a Douglas DC-8 flight between Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip, New York, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida. Based in Fort Lauderdale, the low-fare carrier expanded quickly: by the end of 1983 it served eleven cities in eight states, using Boeing 727s and DC-8s. In 1984 it added Airbus A300 widebodies and operated routes linking northeastern and Florida cities with destinations including New Orleans and Los Angeles. That summer its network reached seventeen cities in ten states, and New Orleans served as a small hub. Rapid growth proved unprofitable. After an attempted lease of ten Boeing 727s from bankrupt Braniff International Airways was blocked in December 1984, Northeastern cut routes and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on January 8, 1985. Three aircraft were repossessed in March. JEI Airlines acquired the downsized carrier in August 1985, when it served New York, Philadelphia, St. Petersburg and Fort Lauderdale. The company was liquidated in 1986, ending a brief but wide-ranging chapter in U.S. airline history.
