Keep the spirit of Caribbean regional aviation close at hand with this Oceanair can cooler. From its San Juan base, the airline connected Puerto Rico with St. Thomas and St. Croix, routes that appeared prominently in a 1982 system timetable. Its Fairchild F-27 and Beechcraft Queen Air fleet reflects an era when propeller aircraft made short island journeys part of everyday travel. This compact keepsake is a fun choice for airline-history collectors, regional aviation fans, and gatherings inspired by Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Oceanair was a regional airline based at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It began flying in the late 1970s as Trans Commuter Airline and operated into the mid-1980s. The airline served domestic routes and routes to the Virgin Islands, competing with Prinair and, on Virgin Islands routes, Aero Virgin Islands. Its propeller-driven fleet included Fairchild F-27 and CASA 212 turboprops and Beechcraft Queen Air light aircraft. A February 15, 1982 system timetable listed up to thirteen daily flights between San Juan and St. Thomas, up to nine between San Juan and St. Croix, and two between St. Thomas and St. Croix. At that time, Oceanair operated 40-passenger Fairchild F-27s and 10-passenger Beechcraft Queen Airs. The airline was also featured in Los Chicos' movie Coneccion Caribe. The supplied account identifies its earlier operating name and its service period, but does not specify a merger, successor, or later brand transition.
