Give a favorite beverage an aviation-history companion with this Pacific Wings can cooler. The airline's story began as Air Nevada, an on-demand charter operator incorporated in 1974, before scheduled flights linked Las Vegas and Grand Canyon National Park Airport. Pacific Wings later served Hawaii and extended its reach through regional names including New Mexico Airlines, GeorgiaSkies, TennesseeSkies, and KentuckySkies. Made for relaxed gatherings and collector shelves alike, this piece celebrates the distinctive story of a small airline connecting communities under changing brands.
Pacific Wings was an American commuter airline headquartered in Mesa, Arizona, with earlier headquarters in Dallas, Texas, and Kahului, Hawaii. Incorporated as Air Nevada, it began as an on-demand charter operator in July 1974. Scheduled flights started in 1978, linking Las Vegas with Grand Canyon National Park Airport in Cessna 402 aircraft. After Eagle Canyon Airlines acquired its tour-operator network, Air Nevada ceased operations in January 1998, adopted the Pacific Wings name, and continued scheduled service in Hawaii. In 2007, it launched PW Express flights among Honolulu, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahului, and began New Mexico Airlines service from Albuquerque that July. Later divisions included GeorgiaSkies, TennesseeSkies, and KentuckySkies, marketing Essential Air Service routes in several states. Service in Hawaii ended in June 2013; the airline ceased operations by 2014. Some New Mexico Airlines service briefly resumed in 2015 after an FAA grounding, but that operation shut down by May. The company's shifting regional brands and routes reflected a small carrier operating under multiple market names.
