Product Details & Size Guide

GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

This Cuffed Beanie offers a low-key way for collectors to remember Peregrine Financial Group and its place in Iowa business history. The firm adopted its name in 1990, later developing online trading technology and moving its headquarters from Chicago to Cedar Falls. Its 2012 shutdown made the brand part of a widely reported financial scandal as well as the history of futures brokerage. Wear it on a cool day or keep it in a collection focused on companies and changing financial markets.

Peregrine Financial Group Inc., commonly known as PFGBest, was an Iowa-based futures commission merchant and commodities brokerage. It grew from Russell R. Wasendorf Sr.'s advisory firm, Wasendorf & Son. In 1990, as Wasendorf began moving his business from Cedar Falls to Chicago, the firm became Peregrine Financial Group. He named it for the peregrine falcon, associating its speed with the quick decisions of futures trading. PFG was incorporated as a futures commission merchant in 1992. In 1998, the company and Jerome Bressert began developing an online trading system called BEST, short for Bressert Electronic Systems Trading; after Bressert left in 2001, PFG retained the technology. In 2007, PFG introduced PFG Best Direct FX Express, an electronic foreign exchange trading platform, and received approval to build a new Cedar Falls headquarters. The firm moved from Chicago to Cedar Falls in 2009. In July 2012, it was shut down amid an investigation into a reported $200 million shortfall in customer funds and filed for bankruptcy. Wasendorf was later sentenced to 50 years in prison. The company’s history is associated with the rise of online trading, its Iowa roots, and a major financial scandal.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.

Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
