GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Start the day with a story from late-1980s aviation on this Presidential Airways coffee mug. Founded in 1985, the airline began with flights between Washington Dulles and Boston Logan, then navigated expansion, a merger, and feeder agreements with several major carriers. Its mix of jet and commuter aircraft, along with changing liveries, makes the brand a rewarding subject for airline-history fans. A distinctive everyday choice for collectors and aviation enthusiasts.
Presidential Airways was founded in 1985 by Harold J. (Hap) Pareti, a former People Express Airlines officer. Its first Boeing 737-200 flights linked Washington Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia with Boston Logan, beginning October 10, 1985. The airline expanded its destinations and, in 1986, merged with the original Colgan Air. Its fleet grew to include British Aerospace BAe 146-200 jets and a small number of de Havilland Canada Dash 8 turboprops. As expansion became difficult to sustain, Presidential shifted into feeder and contract operations: Continental Express service in 1987, Pan Am Express service in 1987, and United Express service in 1988, through agreements with those airlines. A proposed mini-hub at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport never materialized amid financial difficulties. Presidential filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 26, 1989, ended operations on December 5, and its assets were liquidated. Near its closure, the airline operated a varied fleet that included Jetstream commuter aircraft, Beechcraft 1900s, BAe 146 jets, and a Boeing 737. Its aircraft appeared in several liveries, reflecting its changing operating arrangements and airline partnerships.
