Product Details & Size Guide

GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Presidential Airways represents an intriguing moment in U.S. airline history: an independent carrier that launched from Washington Dulles in 1985, grew through a merger, then adapted through feeder service for larger airlines. Its fleet and liveries changed as its role evolved, giving enthusiasts plenty to explore. This embroidered dad cap hat brings the airline’s name into a casual look for airport visits, aviation events, or everyday outings, and makes a fitting choice for collectors drawn to short-lived carriers.

Presidential Airways was founded in 1985 by Harold J. (Hap) Pareti, a former People Express Airlines officer. Its first Boeing 737-200 flights linked Washington Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia with Boston Logan, beginning October 10, 1985. The airline expanded its destinations and, in 1986, merged with the original Colgan Air. Its fleet grew to include British Aerospace BAe 146-200 jets and a small number of de Havilland Canada Dash 8 turboprops. As expansion became difficult to sustain, Presidential shifted into feeder and contract operations: Continental Express service in 1987, Pan Am Express service in 1987, and United Express service in 1988, through agreements with those airlines. A proposed mini-hub at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport never materialized amid financial difficulties. Presidential filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 26, 1989, ended operations on December 5, and its assets were liquidated. Near its closure, the airline operated a varied fleet that included Jetstream commuter aircraft, Beechcraft 1900s, BAe 146 jets, and a Boeing 737. Its aircraft appeared in several liveries, reflecting its changing operating arrangements and airline partnerships.
