GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Keep a small reminder of recording history close at hand with this Project 3 Records Square Porcelain Fridge Magnet. Enoch Light and The Singer Company founded the label in 1966, pairing premium pop and jazz albums with a strong interest in stereo fidelity. Its releases crossed records and tape formats, and its quadraphonic test recordings captured a distinctive chapter in the evolution of home audio. This keepsake suits music collectors and fans who value the stories behind the albums they love.
Project 3 Records was founded in August 1966 by American musician, bandleader, and recording engineer Enoch Light in partnership with The Singer Company. Singer had expanded into home entertainment, including battery-operated phonographs, and had acquired KLH Research and Development Corporation in 1963. Light brought experience from Command Records, which he founded in 1959, sold to ABC in October of that year, and led as an autonomous division until leaving in 1965. Project 3 pursued a related approach, emphasizing high-quality stereo recordings and premium-priced pop and jazz albums. Releases appeared on phonograph records, reel-to-reel tapes, and 8-track tapes. Its artists included Tony Mottola, Bobby Hackett, Buddy Greco, Stan Freeman, Peter Matz, Light, and the Light Brigade. The label issued quadraphonic test records in 1973 and 1974. Light directed Project 3 until his death in August 1978; Herb Linsky acquired it in June 1979. Linsky arranged licensing releases and national distribution through Arista Records in 1980, then launched the Seagull Records midline label in July 1982. In September 1991, he sold Project 3 to New Jersey-based Essex Entertainment.
