GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Celebrate the independent airline that connected Provincetown and Boston with this Provincetown-Boston Airlines can cooler. PBA's story began on Cape Cod in 1949 and expanded into a network spanning New England and Florida, with a fleet that grew well beyond its first Cessna Bobcat. The design brings a distinctive piece of commuter-airline history to picnics, backyard gatherings, and aviation memorabilia collections. It is a thoughtful pick for PBA fans and anyone drawn to the story of regional flight.
Founded by John C. Van Arsdale in Provincetown, Massachusetts, on November 30, 1949, Provincetown-Boston Airlines began with flights between Provincetown and Boston. It succeeded the Cape Cod Flying Service and started with a Cessna Bobcat. In 1958, it took over and merged with Naples Airlines, helping build a network across New England and Florida. The airline added larger aircraft over time, including DC-3s, Martin 4-0-4s, Embraer Bandeirantes and NAMC YS-11s, and became the largest U.S. commuter airline before a 1984 FAA grounding and subsequent bankruptcy. People Express acquired it in 1986; People Express merged with Continental Airlines in 1987. PBA routes were subsequently operated under Continental Express and Eastern Express branding, while PBA consolidated with Bar Harbor Airlines in 1988. The Provincetown-Boston route passed briefly to PAC Air and then to Cape Air in 1989. Continental later consolidated commuter operations under the Continental Express name. Former PBA routes and staff carried parts of its regional-airline history forward, although the PBA name and logo disappeared.
