Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Keep cards close with a tribute to Ransome Airlines, the Philadelphia-based operator that began flying in 1967. Its history crossed several eras of regional aviation, from independent East Coast service to partnerships with Allegheny, Delta, Pan Am and TWA. Each change brought a new identity and a different link to the country’s airline network. This business card holder is a thoughtful desk companion for aviation history fans, airline collectors and anyone who remembers the commuter carriers that connected smaller airports with major hubs.
Ransome Airlines was founded by J. Dawson Ransome in 1967, with revenue flights beginning that March. Headquartered at Northeast Philadelphia Airport, it first served East Coast cities from Philadelphia to Norfolk with small Beechcraft Model 18 aircraft. In August 1970, it began operating as Allegheny Commuter, feeding flights to Allegheny Airlines’ Pittsburgh hub while retaining a northeastern point-to-point network. That partnership ended June 1, 1982, and Ransome resumed service under its own name. A 1984 agreement with Delta Air Lines brought the Delta Connection identity. Pan American World Airways acquired the airline in June 1987, renamed it Pan Am Express, and expanded service to include Berlin Tegel, New York, Miami and Los Angeles. After Pan American’s collapse, Trans World Airlines bought the company on December 4, 1991, and renamed it Trans World Express. Its European and Miami networks were discontinued, and JFK became its sole hub. The airline ended operations on November 6, 1995, citing lack of profitability. Trans States Airlines took over its JFK routes, while most of its 11 ATR 42 aircraft went to Mahalo Air.
