GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Celebrate Reno Air’s brief but memorable place in American aviation with a luggage tag inspired by the airline’s western network. Founded in 1990, Reno Air began flying between Reno and Seattle in 1992, then connected travelers through hubs in Reno and San Jose, with Las Vegas also part of its story. Its independent years ended in 1999 after American Airlines acquired the carrier, but its name and distinctive Gulf Coast Flyer identity remain favorites among airline-history collectors. A fitting travel companion for enthusiasts who remember the airline’s era.
Reno Air was a scheduled passenger airline headquartered in Reno, Nevada. Founded in June 1990 by Frontier Airlines alumnus Joseph Lorenzo and airline executive Jeff Erickson, it began flying on July 1, 1992, with nonstop service from Reno to Seattle. It built a hub in Reno and established another at San Jose International Airport in late 1993, later also operating a Las Vegas hub. Its network linked western U.S. cities, including destinations in Alaska, and at different times included Vancouver, British Columbia, and a separate Gulfport, Mississippi operation. Reno Air Express feeder flights used BAe Jetstream 31 turboprops under a code-share arrangement. The airline recorded its first annual profit in 1995 and shifted its focus toward Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Seattle in 1996. American Airlines purchased Reno Air in February 1999; Reno Air flew its last flight on August 30. American initially retained and repainted former Reno Air aircraft, but disposed of the fleet in 2001. By the end of that year, Reno Air’s former route structure had ended and Reno had become a spoke rather than a connecting hub. In 2015, American included a Reno Air-inspired Boeing 737-800 in its heritage livery series, although Reno Air had never operated that aircraft type.
