GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Remember a distinctive chapter of airline history with an ornament honoring Rich International Airways. Founded by Jean Rich in Miami, the carrier began operations in 1970 and grew from early cargo flights into passenger charters and wide-body operations. Its varied aircraft and turbulent journey give the name a special place among independent U.S. airlines. For aviation collectors, this ornament brings a piece of charter and cargo history to a seasonal display or year-round collection.

Rich International Airways was a Miami, Florida-based charter and cargo airline founded by aviation pioneer Jean Rich. Incorporated in Florida on April 28, 1970, it began flying that year with C-46 and Beech 18 aircraft. In 1977, the Civil Aeronautics Board certified the carrier for cargo service between Florida and Georgia and destinations in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America, then authorized domestic cargo flights for the Department of Defense. Its fleet grew to include Douglas DC-6 and DC-8-60 freighters. Passenger charters began in 1982, with flights to Europe and Hawaii, but expansion losses led to Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1983. After its operating certificate was revoked over maintenance irregularities in 1984, the airline restarted with new key personnel. Miami-based investor George E. Batchelor later invested, and Rich emerged from bankruptcy protection by 1991. Expansion included Lockheed L-1011 TriStar charters for cruise lines, tour operators, vacation companies, and the Department of Defense. Rich ceased operations on September 1, 1996, and announced bankruptcy in February 1997. Its aircraft and inventory were auctioned in July 1997.
