GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Take Dallas retail heritage along on the road with this Sanger-Harris travel mug. Formed in 1961, the chain brought together two established local predecessors and grew into a recognizable shopping destination across the Dallas–Fort Worth area, with additional stores in Oklahoma and Arizona. Its 1965 downtown flagship introduced the marble columns and abstract tile mosaics remembered by collectors. This design is a practical companion for travel and busy days, as well as a conversation starter for people who value regional store history.
Sanger-Harris was a Dallas, Texas, department store chain created in 1961 when Federated Department Stores combined Sanger Brothers and A. Harris and Company. Sanger Brothers began in 1868, founded by five brothers, and Federated acquired it in 1951. A. Harris and Company dated to 1887 and joined Federated in 1961. The new chain opened a downtown Dallas flagship in 1965, replacing the predecessor companies’ flagship stores. During the late 1970s, it dropped the hyphen in its name and continued as an upper-moderate shopping destination. At its height, the chain operated 20 stores, primarily in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, with additional locations in Oklahoma and Arizona. Its stores became recognizable for white marble columns and abstract tile mosaics, a design introduced at the 1965 flagship and used at many locations built through 1982. In January 1987, Federated merged Sanger-Harris into its Houston-based Foley’s division. The combined division was sold to The May Department Store Company the following year. Federated acquired May in 2005, and many former Sanger-Harris locations became Macy’s stores in 2006. Many original buildings have since been remodeled or demolished.
