Product Details & Size Guide
From its 1945 beginning in San Bernardino, Sav-on grew into a recognizable Southern California pharmacy chain, reaching 100 stores in 1975. The brand later moved through several corporate chapters, including its return as Sav-on Drugs in 1989. This cuffed beanie offers a simple way to celebrate that changing store identity and the history of neighborhood pharmacy retail. It suits collectors, former customers, and anyone drawn to regional brands with a story that still has a place in some grocery-store pharmacies.
Sav-on Drugs began in San Bernardino, California, in July 1945, founded by Christian J. Call. It grew into a Southern California pharmacy chain, reaching 100 stores in 1975 and 141 by August 1980, with locations in California, Houston, and Las Vegas. The Jewel Companies acquired Sav-on in November 1980, bringing it into the same corporate family as Osco Drug; Sav-on became Osco's Western Region. American Stores acquired Jewel in 1984 and changed Sav-on stores to the Osco name in 1986, but restored the Sav-on Drugs brand in 1989. The company expanded its California operations through acquisitions, including CVS stores in 1992 and Clark Drug stores in 1995. Albertsons acquired American Stores in 1999. In 2006, the sale of Albertsons divided its businesses: CVS Corporation bought the standalone Osco and Sav-on drugstores, which were rebranded as CVS Pharmacy by 2007, while grocery-store pharmacies retained the Osco or Sav-on names. SuperValu acquired Jewel, ACME, Shaw's, and other stores in the transaction, then sold its grocery operations to Cerberus in 2013. Sav-on Pharmacy continues as an in-store pharmacy brand in some markets.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.
Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
