GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Share the story of Seaboard Air Line Railroad with young train fans. Its network grew from predecessor railroads with roots in the 1830s and connected Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. Passengers headed south for vacations while Southern timber, minerals, and produce traveled north. The Silver Meteor, introduced in 1939, helped make the railroad part of Florida travel history. This kids tee celebrates the people, places, and journeys behind a company remembered by rail enthusiasts and collectors across the region.

Seaboard Air Line Railroad (SAL), known colloquially as the Seaboard Railroad, operated from April 14, 1900, until July 1, 1967. Its predecessor railroads dated to the 1830s, including the Portsmouth and Roanoke Railroad, chartered in 1832, and the Raleigh and Gaston Railroad. After extensive reorganizations and post-Civil War rebuilding, the roads developed into a connected system. SAL was headquartered in Portsmouth, Virginia, until its main offices moved to Richmond in 1958. Its main route ran from Richmond through Raleigh, Columbia, Savannah, and Jacksonville to Tampa, with additional lines reaching Miami, Atlanta, Birmingham, and other southeastern cities. Seaboard carried manufactured goods and vacationers south and transported Southern timber, minerals, and produce, including Florida citrus, north. Its passenger service included the Silver Meteor, introduced in 1939. Following bankruptcy during the Great Depression, the railroad was reorganized as the Seaboard Air Line Railroad in 1946. On July 1, 1967, it merged with longtime rival Atlantic Coast Line Railroad to form Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. The successor rail network later became part of Seaboard System and, in 1986, CSX Transportation.
