During the late 1960s, DC-8-63 aircraft connected McChord Air Force Base in Washington with Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam. The airline also became the first to fly a 747 freighter service from the UK to the USA. Based at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport, Seaboard merged with Flying Tiger Line on October 1, 1980, and its corporate identity ended. Its history spans postwar cargo aviation, transatlantic routes, and the transition from propeller aircraft to jets.
