Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Start the day with a reminder of a short-lived chapter in American charter aviation. Sky Trek International Air Lines began operations in 1997, flying vacation travelers to Caribbean destinations and providing charter capacity for other needs. Its fleet included refurbished Boeing 727-200 aircraft, and in 1999 the carrier adopted the Discovery Airlines name. This Ceramic Coffee Mug brings together those recognizable details for airline-history enthusiasts, former passengers, and collectors interested in the companies that shaped late twentieth-century travel.
Sky Trek International Air Lines was a U.S. supplemental charter airline registered as a Virginia corporation in 1996. It began operating in 1997, initially headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, and later based operationally in Ewing Township, New Jersey. The airline flew package-vacation and other charter services, primarily to Caribbean destinations such as Nassau, Aruba, Saint Martin, and Antigua, as well as Cancún, Mexico, and Laughlin, Nevada. Its fleet included as many as five refurbished Boeing 727-200 aircraft configured for 162 passengers. Sky Trek also provided short-notice charter capacity during the NCAA basketball tournament and subservice for other airlines. In August 1999, Harris Herman replaced Robert Iverson II as president and CEO. The carrier’s doing-business-as name changed to Discovery Airlines, and its aircraft were withdrawn from service and repainted in Discovery livery. The name change did not restore profitability. Sky Trek filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in May 2000 and ceased operations. On June 22, 2000, the reorganization was converted to Chapter 7 liquidation, ending the airline’s brief operating history.
