It later established a second focus city at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina, and added routes from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Rising fuel costs and a weakening economy contributed to its shutdown announcement on April 4, 2008; its last flights operated the following day. Skybus sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
