GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
SkyValue's story began with plans announced on October 13, 2006, for seasonal service from Gary/Chicago International Airport. Its winter operation connected travelers with sunny destinations, using aircraft leased from Xtra Airways, and carried more than 10,000 passengers. This business card holder offers a compact tribute to that brief airline chapter and the airport development it helped support. A fitting desk accessory for aviation history collectors, regional travel enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the ambitious plans behind short-lived companies.
SkyValue, formally known as SkyValue USA, was a seasonal American low-cost airline headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. On October 13, 2006, the company announced plans to begin service that December from Gary/Chicago International Airport in Gary, Indiana, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Its only operating season ran from December 15, 2006, through April 2007, with five daily flights planned to five sunny destinations. The airline operated as a scheduled charter service, with aircraft wet leased from Xtra Airways. Its winter service carried more than 10,000 passengers, and the article reports that this made possible federal grants supporting the cost and expansion of Gary Airport as a potential third Chicago-area airport. Mesa, Arizona, in the Phoenix area, became the airline's most popular destination and received an added third weekly flight. On April 27, 2007, the CEO announced that service to all destinations would end as planned on May 6, while the company would consider returning for the next season. On April 23, the original 737-800 was returned and replaced with a smaller 737-400 configured with business and economy seating. The optioned year-long lease on that aircraft expired in April 2008.
