GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Make a familiar drink a reminder of Smokey Bones and its role in American barbecue dining. The chain started in Orlando in 1999 and expanded to locations in Florida, the Midwest and Northeast, becoming a recognizable part of casual restaurant culture. Its history continued through changes in ownership before the remaining restaurants closed in 2026. This can cooler is a practical way to celebrate the brand's story at a backyard gathering, game night or relaxed evening at home.
Smokey Bones, formally Barbeque Integrated Inc. doing business as Smokey Bones Bar and Fire Grill, began in August 1999 when Darden Restaurants opened its first restaurant in Orlando, Florida, at a former Red Lobster site near Darden's headquarters. By June 2001, Darden had opened eight more locations in Florida, the Midwest and Northeast. In May 2007, Darden announced plans to close 56 restaurants and sell the remaining 73; in December, it sold the chain to Barbeque Integrated, a Sun Capital subsidiary, for about $80 million. Ryan Esko became CEO in 2015 and James O’Reilly replaced him in 2019. Smokey Bones opened two new-concept locations in 2022. On September 25, 2023, FAT Brands acquired Barbeque Integrated from Sun Capital Partners for $30 million. In 2025, a reported plan called for some locations to transition to the Twin Peaks name and others to close. Fourteen locations closed in January 2026. FAT Brands filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection that month. In January 2026, the chain had 31 restaurants in 15 Eastern states; on April 28, Twin Hospitality closed its remaining Smokey Bones restaurants.
