GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Sobelair’s story began in Brussels in 1946, when a Douglas DC-3 carried flowers to Nice on the airline’s first revenue flight. The Belgian carrier later linked its home base with holiday destinations across the Mediterranean, reflecting the rise of postwar leisure travel. This Cotton Polo Shirt brings that distinctive aviation history into an everyday wardrobe, with a name remembered for changing aircraft generations, charter journeys and a final chapter that closed in 2004.
Sobelair was a Belgian charter airline founded on 30 July 1946 as Société d'Etude et de Transports Aériens (SETA). Its first revenue flight, on 15 October 1946, carried flowers to Nice via Paris in a Douglas DC-3. From 1947 it also flew scheduled services from Brussels to Elisabethville for companies in the Belgian colony. In 1949, Sabena acquired shares amounting to 72.29 percent of the airline. After Congo became independent, Sobelair ended its African service and focused on Mediterranean holiday charters, alongside domestic flights from 1957 to 1962. It entered the jet era in 1971 with a Caravelle, later operating Boeing 707s and then an all-Boeing 737 fleet. Long-haul service returned in 1994 with a Boeing 767-300. The airline worked with Crossair and Swissair on charter operations, and signed a tour-operator contract with Jetair in the late 1990s. Following the 2001 collapse of Swissair and Sabena, Sobelair was acquired by investors in June 2002 and launched Brussels–Johannesburg scheduled service. It passed to SN Brussels Airlines in early 2003, operating charters, but declared bankruptcy in January 2004. A creditor-protection request was rejected on 19 January, ending operations.
