Spag's began in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, in 1934, when Anthony “Spag” Borgatti opened Shrewsbury Battery and Tire Service. The business expanded in 1939 and became Spag's Hardware Supply. Incorporated as Spag's Supply, Inc. in 1966, it grew into a discount department store on Route 9, known for low prices, cash-based purchasing, and a distinctive warehouse-style campus. The store added a sports shop and an Olde School House, and sponsored local PBS broadcasts of The New Yankee Workshop and The Victory Garden. Its long-standing cash-only policy ended in 1992, the year it also began opening on Sundays; shopping bags followed in late 1996 and carts in 1998. After Borgatti's death in 1996, his daughters ran the business. A second store operated in Springfield from late 1999 through 2001. In 2002, the family sold the Shrewsbury store to Building 19, and the site became Spag's 19. Merchandise and operations shifted to the buyer's format, and October 3, 2004, was Spag's final day of business. The former store buildings were demolished beginning in 2016.

Care instructions
- Use warm water, dish soap and clean spots off your sleeve. It's not necessary to soak the whole sleeve. For hard to clean spots use a soft bristled brush.
