GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Show your interest in American railway history with this St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway polo shirt. The Iron Mountain opened in 1856 to carry iron ore toward St. Louis, then passed through major changes that included Jay Gould's 1883 acquisition and a 1917 merger into Missouri Pacific. Its story connects the movement of goods, regional rail development, and a name still represented by a Missouri heritage railroad. A considered choice for train enthusiasts, history collectors, and railway heritage supporters.
The St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway, commonly known as the Iron Mountain, was an American railway company that operated from 1856 to 1917. It was established to carry iron ore from Iron Mountain to St. Louis, Missouri. Henry Gudon Marquand and his brother Frederick Marquand owned the railway before they were forced out through Jay Gould's railroad monopoly. In 1883, Gould acquired the company, making it part of a 9,547-mile rail system. On May 12, 1917, the railway was officially merged into the Missouri Pacific Railroad. That railroad later became part of Union Pacific through mergers between 1982 and 1997. The line's history also includes two train robberies: one at Gad's Hill on January 31, 1874, and another at Olyphant, Arkansas, on November 3, 1893. A heritage railroad using the same name operates about six miles of shortline in Cape Girardeau County, based in Jackson, Missouri.
