GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Bring a layered chapter of American petroleum history to the table with this Standard Oil Company of Indiana pint glass. The name recalls the wider Standard Oil lineage, the 1911 court-ordered breakup, and the distinct Indiana successor that later became Amoco through mergers and a name change in the 1980s. Its story makes this piece a thoughtful choice for collectors, history enthusiasts, and anyone drawn to the evolution of a familiar energy brand. Enjoy it at home or display it with other company memorabilia.
Standard Oil Company of Indiana was one of the companies descended from the Standard Oil group. The group began with Standard Oil Company (Ohio), incorporated in 1870, and was reorganized in 1882 as a trust pooling the securities of 40 companies. After the trust was dissolved in 1892, its holdings were reorganized among independent companies. In 1899, Standard Oil Company of New Jersey became the holding company for the group. A 1911 U.S. Supreme Court ruling ordered that company to break up its holdings into 39 independent companies. Standard Oil of Indiana remained a distinct successor within this wider corporate lineage. The article identifies it as the company that became Amoco after mergers and a name change in the 1980s. It also notes that BP later acquired Standard Oil of Indiana and merged with Amoco. This history links an early American oil enterprise to a later, widely recognized energy brand through corporate reorganization, changing names, and acquisition.
