GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Add an airline-history touch to relaxed gatherings with this Ted can cooler. United created Ted as a vacation-focused brand, launching service from Denver in February 2004 with an all-economy cabin and a distinct identity for leisure travelers. It was a branded part of United, not a separately certificated airline, and its short run ended in January 2009. A fun collectible for aviation fans, this piece recalls an unusual chapter in how major airlines presented themselves to travelers.
Ted was a vacation-focused airline brand created by United Airlines, one of two divisional brands alongside United p.s., which targeted premium transcontinental business travel. Announced on November 12, 2003, Ted began service on February 12, 2004, from United's hub at Denver International Airport. The brand competed with low-cost carriers using 56 Airbus A320-200 aircraft configured with 156 all-economy seats. Ted was not a separately certificated airline: United crews operated its flights under United's operating certificate, and aircraft could move between Ted and mainline service as schedules and equipment needs required. Its network eventually reached 23 destinations in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, with focus cities at Chicago O'Hare, San Francisco, and Dulles. United announced on June 4, 2008, that Ted would be discontinued amid an airline crisis caused by rising fuel prices. The aircraft returned to United's mainline fleet, were refitted with First Class cabins, and helped compensate for the retirement of United's Boeing 737 fleet. Ted operations ended on January 6, 2009, when its components were folded back into United mainline operations.
