Product Details & Size Guide
Remember a defining chapter in Gulf Coast rail history with this Texas and New Orleans Railroad cuffed beanie. Chartered in 1856, the company grew from an ambitious Texas line into part of a Houston-to-New Orleans connection, with the first through train running in 1880. Its story spans interrupted service, renewed operations, and decades of changing railroad partnerships before the 1961 merger into Southern Pacific. A fitting everyday pick for railfans and admirers of Texas and Louisiana history.
Chartered in 1856 as the Sabine and Galveston Bay Railroad and Lumber Company, the line was formed to connect Madison, now Orange, with Galveston Bay. Construction began near Houston in 1857, and the name changed to Texas and New Orleans Railroad in 1859. By 1862, service connected Houston and Orange, though Civil War disruptions and a washed-out Trinity River bridge interrupted operations. After receivership and sale, a newly chartered company resumed service; the first train from Houston to Orange in more than a decade ran in 1876. In 1878, the T&NO, Charles Morgan’s Louisiana and Texas Railroad and Steamship Company, and the Louisiana Western Railroad agreed to complete the route. The first through train from Houston to New Orleans ran on August 30, 1880. Southern Pacific acquired the T&NO in 1881. In 1927, it leased other Southern Pacific lines in Texas and Louisiana, and in 1934 those properties merged into the T&NO, which then operated 3,713 miles of railroad. On November 1, 1961, the remaining 3,385 miles merged into Southern Pacific, ending the T&NO as a separate company.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.
Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
