GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Add a touch of Los Angeles retail history to everyday notes with this The Broadway sticky note pad. The department store began operating in 1896 at Broadway and Fourth Street under Arthur Letts, then expanded as the city and its shopping districts grew. Its nine-story downtown flagship, completed in 1915, became an enduring part of the story. A useful keepsake for collectors, former shoppers, and local history enthusiasts who remember how The Broadway grew into a western chain before its stores changed hands and names.

The Broadway was a Los Angeles department store chain founded by English-born Arthur Letts Sr. It began operating on February 24, 1896, after Letts acquired the name, assets, fixtures, and lease of the failed J. A. Williams & Co. Dry Goods Store. The original shop stood at Broadway and Fourth Street. As Los Angeles grew, the business expanded into neighboring storefronts and built a nine-story downtown flagship, completed in 1915. The company broadened its reach by acquiring the B. H. Dyas Hollywood store in 1931 and opening a Pasadena store in 1940. In 1950 it merged with Sacramento-based Hale Brothers to form Broadway-Hale Stores, acquired Milliron's Westchester branch, and continued growing through purchases including Marston's in San Diego and Korricks in Phoenix. Later expansion reached Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado. In 1979, operations were divided between Southern California and a Southwest division headquartered in Phoenix. Parent Carter Hawley Hale Stores later faced financial difficulties. Federated Department Stores acquired the chain in 1995. In 1996, most locations became Macy's; selected stores reopened as Bloomingdale's, while many remaining locations were sold to Sears. The Broadway name thus passed from an independent retailer into a larger department-store portfolio.

Keep a stack by the phone for action items, stash a pad in your planner for weekly priorities, or place one on a conference table where everyone can jot a quick note. The adhesive holds through handling but releases cleanly when you move items around. For people who prefer minimal branding and maximum writing space, these pads help keep thoughts visible and tasks moving forward without shouting for attention.
